Afghans Are Us

Earls Court Discover Dogs Stand

The breed booth at Discover Dogs at Earls Court on 8/9 November was again a success. The booth was decorated on the Friday afternoon ready for the public days on the Saturday and Sunday. The theme was to show that Afghans are a fit and healthy breed, not only as show dogs, but as sight hounds that can take part in artificial hunts, ie chasing the "bunny" round a race track, or following the plastic bag round a field at lure coursing meetings.

On the Saturday we had Tracey and Jackie Gosling with Fleur and Mia, Lin Gray with Errol and Danny, and me (John) with Smoke and Misk. On Sunday we had Bob and Julie Parsons with Zak and Shah, Nicki Humphreys with Willow and Cleo, and Yvonne Odell with Dhusty. All of the dogs were show dogs that take part in both racing and lure-coursing events, and all demonstrated their impeccable temperaments by allowing hundreds of hands, large and small, to stroke them throughout the day.

Thank you to all the volunteers. - John
